Antique

Antique by Xera is made by wild bees on hard to find trees chosen for their location and age.

Analysis and tasting before each shipment to guarantee the distinctive properties of Xera.

Come discover the flavour and organoleptic properties through a unique journey in time. ANTIQUE by XERA has more antiseptic and antioxidant properties due to the dehydration that occurs during the harvest inside old trees by native bees in the wild and it’s harvested inside hard to find trees that are more than 1200 years old.

ANTIQUE by Xera is fresher and more floral although it maintains it’s characteristic reddish darkness with the same nutrients and antioxidant and antiseptic power. In addition, it preserves the characteristic variety of organic acids typical of cinerea.

Ancient trees mean thick bark, which directly affects the way Apis Mellifera Mellifera works, which is forced to concentrate a greater amount of solid on a smaller interior surface. Honey harvested in these circumstances becomes forty times denser and improves the presence of organic acids and essential nutrients.

ANTIQUE by Xera preserves remote traditions in the collection and relies on our leading laboratories to extract and preserve a unique taste in honey, amino acids, antioxidant and antibacterial properties far above others.

With ANTIQUE by Xera we choose the most ancient and nutrient-rich environment.

CINEREA HONEY STANDS OUT FOR ITS CONTENT OF ORGANIC ACIDS

Fresh superfood with a unique aroma.

Organic acids such as cis, and trans-abscisic acid, are potential markers of this variety of honey. Studies have found that heather honey has a significant amount of quinic acid, which distinguishes it from other honeys. In addition, it has been observed that heather honey may contain galacturonic acid, a component not found in other honeys. These characteristics make heather honey have unique properties compared to other honey varieties in terms of its organic acid composition (Cherchi, A., Spanedda, L., Tuberoso, C. I. G., Cabras, P., & Angioni, A. . (1994). Determination of organic acids in honey from Sardinia. Journal of Apicultural Research, 33(2), 65-69).

Analysis and tasting before shipment to guarantee distinctive properties

The unique qualities of Xera mean that to be chosen from each year’s harvest our honeys must pass quality controls to meet (and maintain) the flavour, colour, consistency and aromatic qualities that we demand from our one of a kind honey. And guarantee the compositional and therefore therapeutic qualities of the honey itself.

At Xera we are obliged to take care of by processing it first in wild environments, with totally natural means and without human intervention, and then with the subsequent obtaining by decanting and preserving the honey in the laboratory, at a constant temperature and in conditions of total protection.

The wild production of honey provides magnificent organoleptic benefits. And the unique qualities of Xera mean that to be chosen from each year’s harvest our honeys must first finish the cultivation cycle successfully in an isolated and wild environment. Which in itself is not easy at all. But in addition, Xera honey collected by gravity, without filtering and by traditional methods must pass quality controls to meet (and maintain) the flavour, colour, consistency and aromatic qualities that we demand from our one of a kind honey. And guarantee the compositional and therefore therapeutic qualities of the honey itself.

ANTIQUE bark Xera trees

Floral sweetness and dense bitter flavour with a light woody bouquet

With a unique flavor and a color that highlights its dense and rich texture, the way of obtaining ANTIQUE from Xera makes the most of the qualities of the environment.

What makes ANTIQUE by Xera one of the honeys with the most antioxidant and antimicrobial properties in the world is the presence of more organic acids than other kinds of honey, and the raising of wild bees in freedom is essential for this to happen. Each swarm works in a place and under certain conditions of humidity, light and heat. Wild in nature and free of exogenous factors, the hive creates its ecosystem and reproduces conditions of dehydration and concentration of particular nutrients, typical of that honeycomb and that specific ecosystem and not others.

The organoleptic characteristics of Antique by Xera are the result of harvesting ancient woods, which gives a floral sweetness and dense bitter flavour with a light woody aroma. With a unique flavour and a colour that highlights its dense and rich texture

Discover the Place Where Magic is Made

The land where our honey is harvested is one of the few places in the world where bees are born and reproduce in the wild. Xera cares about taking care of the environment and keeping it in perfect condition to complete the work in a sustainable way, supported by a biological wealth that results in a harvest of astonishing quality, which surprises us every year. At Xera we work for the conservation of these local bee populations, which have been inhabiting the area for thousands of years.

The proximity of the Cantabrian Sea provides mineral salts and other nutrients that also receive the richness of the high mountains with lush, clean rains and waters. The purple color of Cinerea grows for a few days between July and August, dyeing the mountains a lush reddish color.

Raw Xera honey being hand extracted from chestnut trees

Getting honey like ours would be impossible without an environment free of contaminants and with some of the oldest and most valued wild species. We extract honey by hand directly from the interior of the ancient chestnut trees where our bees harvest the honey.

Lichens and Mosses Xera Raw Honey

Discovering the environment in which Xera bees live is like a trip back in time thousands of years. Lichens and mosses have grown in the area for millennia, even on the rock itself, and are in turn excellent biomarkers of the purity of the air and the flora itself. Flavor and properties of honey recreate the original perfection. Purity is the only condition to achieve the unimaginable.
